We had an even 100 riders pre-register, and register, for the 24th Annual Alfalfa Bill Century Bicycle Ride.
October has been beautiful this year, except for the 23rd, the day of the ride. The weather was okay for the first 30 or 40 minutes of the ride but then came the wind, the rain, and the lightening. It rained sporadically, the rest of the day, sometimes heavily. About 20 riders sagged this year because of the lightening, equipment problems, or just being soaked and miserable.
Most of the riders persisted though, and finished their 10-, 20-, 30-, and 46-mile rides. Four intrepid souls even completed the century. Rich Corbell finished in about six hours. It was his 55th century. Sooncheol Yoon finished his fourth century, and Joe and Chelly Quinn finished their first. They will certainly remember this one.
If you spot yourself in a photo, e-mail Fran at franmorrell@tishomingo.com and give her the photo no., your name, and the distance you rode. Lewis Parkhill, our mayor, was our photographer lparkh@swbell.net.
